It’s unclear if we’re bound to a cloud-shrouded heaven or a life smothered in flames, or perhaps another life in limbo we’ll never be able to know until we’ve reached the place we’re headed.

Heaven is for Real is an adaptation for the screen of the real-life struggles that the Burpo family which is whose son Colton went on to another dimension while having surgery. After his exit from an operating theatre, Colton’s family are amazed by his new knowledge about the events in his life. He informs them of encountering distant family members and connecting with Jesus. Colton’s vision of heaven shines radiantly from a picture of his church he’s known for years, with angelic beings and figures of light welcoming him into the aisle that he’s been through numerous times in the world of physical reality.

“What Dreams May Come looks like an art work that is brought to life through an emotional set-up that takes the viewer to a journey through hell and heaven. A car crash takes its toll on Chris Nielsen, played by Robin Williams, who initially is captivated by the dream of the afterlife and the reunion with his children. The Roger Ebert review emphasizes “one sequence that is among the most visually exciting I have ever seen,” in which “[Williams] occupies a landscape that is a painting, and as he plucks a flower it turns to oil paint in his hand.” In a state of sadness and loss of his wife Annie commits suicide and is relegated to hell. Chris decides to go to heaven and save her from her fate. He puts their relationship through a test of fire, which results in a happy ending.

The basis for Miracles from Heaven is a real story, based on the same book title from Christy Beam. In the film the protagonist is the daughter of Christy Beam Anna suffers from a severe digestive disorder that is uncurable. In the course of a day, Anna falls into an open tree trunk as she plays with her younger sister. She is trapped in the tree as she waits for help. Anna emerges mostly unharmed and the doctors are astonished when she recounts her ex-body incident and the disease appears to be easing. When she recounts about her experience to them, the television flashes to life with her sparkling vision of Heaven. She walks through a beautiful garden of hydrangeas , which transform into butterflies, and the endless sky.

As one of the best animated films of the 1980s, All Dogs Go to Heaven is among the most visually stunning works by Don Bluth. It shines as a classic study of the afterlife, interpreted to a young crowd. Following his tragic loss by the hand of his business partner, Charlie the dog finds himself crossing over to another world. He is fortunate enough to end into heaven, a vividly-colored world that is filled with great dogs, as the film’s title suggests.
