How did Bhangarh Fort become haunted?

Legend has it that in the 16th century Bhangarh, a Tantrik named Singhiya fell in love with the enchanting Princess Ratnavati of Bhangarh.

Determined to possess the princess, the Tantrik resorted to various methods, but his efforts were in vain. One day, the princess’s friend went to the market to purchase hair oil for her. As she returned with the oil, the Tantrik cast a spell on it, intending to make the princess irresistibly drawn to him as soon as she applied it.

However, the princess discovered the Tantrik’s deceit. She deliberately spilled the oil on the ground, and as the oil touched the earth, it transformed into a stone ball. Rolling towards the Tantrik, it crushed him. In his dying moments, the enraged Tantrik cursed that Bhangarh would face utter destruction, and those who perished would find no salvation. Soon, the curse materialized, leading to the gradual ruin of the Bhangarh fort.

Even in the present day, there is a prevailing belief that the spirits of those who met their demise in this place continue to roam, and some individuals have reportedly lost their lives during the night. Consequently, the Archaeological Survey of India has erected a sign stating that entering this fort is forbidden after dusk and before dawn.

Cantt area of Delhi

“The Cantt area in the capital city of Delhi is rumored to be haunted. There are tales suggesting that during the night, a girl seeks a ride from passersby, and those who offer her a lift experience unfortunate events. Locals in this Delhi area claim to have encountered a woman wearing a white saree, often soliciting rides.

There are also claims that if someone declines to offer her a ride, she begins to chase them at an alarming speed. It has been reported by several individuals that the woman overtakes them with a speed surpassing that of their car, creating a highly eerie and frightening scene.

Savoy Hotel (Mussoorie)

The locals here hold the belief that a British girl was killed in this hotel, and her ghost continues to roam, seeking her murderer. This place is often referred to as the ‘serial killing’ hotel because it is believed that Lady Orme, the girl who met her demise here, is somehow connected to the murders that have occurred in this location.

Shaniwarwada Fort (Pune)

Frequent eerie sounds, resembling the groans of people, echo within the confines of this fort. During the Peshwa rule, the authority rested here. In that era, a tragic incident occurred where a boy named Narayan, the Peshwa’s prince, was allegedly murdered on the counsel of his aunt. Since that time, it is believed that the soul of the young prince continues to linger within these walls, and haunting wails are said to pierce the night. The atmosphere becomes particularly chilling and terrifying in the moonlight.

Vrindavan Society

This location is so forbidding that individuals scarcely muster the courage to venture there during the night. There is a prevailing belief that some years ago, a person took their own life by leaping from a building in the vicinity. Now, it is said that the spirit of that individual lingers, creating an eerie sensation. There are accounts of a spectral encounter, where the night patrolling guard felt a forceful slap in the air, causing him to tumble from his chair.

Ramoji Filmcity (Hyderabad)

This location was once a cemetery, and the spirits of the deceased soldiers buried here are believed to still roam the area. Additionally, it’s noteworthy that during filming at this site, both the lightman and cameraman suffered severe injuries.

Raj Kiran Hotel (Mumbai)

Raj Kiran Hotel in Lonavala is reputed to have one room under the influence of spirits, deterring anyone from staying there. According to local accounts, guests have reported incidents of their bedsheets being pulled while sleeping at night, accompanied by peculiar sounds. There have even been instances of alleged attempts to harm individuals.

Brij Raj Bhawan (Kota)

In the 1857 battle, a British military officer lost his life at this site. It is believed that the spirit of that officer roams the area during the night. Locals share that while this spirit doesn’t harm anyone, if the night watchman happens to doze off while on guard, the spirit reportedly wakes him abruptly with a forceful slap.

Numerous individuals have met unfortunate ends in the thick forest, and according to the local residents, they sense paranormal activities in this area.
